Description
The Australian Blue-Tongued Lizzard. They are perhaps the largest of the skink family and grow to a size of 12-24 inches (300 - 600 mm).
They have a bright blue tongue and a rather stubby build (large head, big body, short legs). Slow moving they do not mind gentle approaches by friendly humans.
In suburbia they are regarded as helpful as they are great at controlling garden pest insects.
Some have a liking for pet food that has been left out. Often seen sun baking.
About six different varieties.
