Description

The Sulphur-crested Cockatoo is a large, very noisy parrot found across large portions of eastern and northern Australia including cities.

Whilst it is very beautiful, it is also very destructive with its powerful hooked beak able to rip small branches from trees. It normally only eats a fraction of what is torn off leaving a carpet of twigs and leaves on the ground. Over time multiple trees can be completely denuded.

Some regard them as a pest for the above reason.

This cockatoo has emerged from its home - a hollowed out part of a tree formed after a large branch broke off from the eucalyptus tree.
